Welcome to Popularoo ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("App").
Summary: Popularoo respects your privacy. We use an anonymous device ID to track votes. Personal information (name, email, social links) is only collected if you voluntarily provide it. We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You May Provide Voluntarily
- Account Information: Name, email, address (optional, stored locally on your device)
- Booster Profile: If you purchase a Booster, you may provide your name, email address, and social media links (Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook)
- Voting Data: Your likes and dislikes on personalities
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Anonymous Device ID: A unique identifier generated on your device to track your votes
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, app version
- Technical Data: IP address (for server communication only, not stored)
1.3 Information We DO NOT Collect
- ❌ No location tracking
- ❌ No camera or microphone access
- ❌ No contacts or photos access
- ❌ No advertising identifiers
2. How We Use Your Information
- Calculate Scores: Aggregate votes to compute personality popularity scores
- Display Rankings: Show trending personalities and top lists
- Booster Visibility: Display your name and social links on the Home page if you purchase a Booster
- Transactional Emails: Send purchase confirmations and expiration reminders (only if you provide an email)
- Prevent Abuse: Enforce the 24-hour voting limit per personality
3. Data Storage
3.1 Local Storage (Your Device)
- Anonymous device ID
- Account information (name, email, address)
- Voting history and badges
- Cached data for performance
3.2 Server Storage
- Aggregated vote counts per personality
- Booster purchases (name, email, social links, tier, duration)
- Transaction history
- Score history for charts
3.3 Security
- 🔒 HTTPS encryption for all communications
- 🔒 Secure MongoDB Atlas cloud hosting
- 🔒 No payment data stored (handled by Apple/Google)
4. Data Sharing
We do NOT sell your data.
We may share anonymized, aggregated data only in these cases:
- Public Display: Personality scores, rankings, and Booster profiles are public by design
- Service Providers: Hosting (MongoDB Atlas, Render.com), email (Brevo) — with strict confidentiality
- Legal Obligations: If required by law
5. Your Rights
5.1 Access & View
View your voting history in the "My Votes" section and your account data in the "Account" tab.
5.2 Delete Your Data
To request deletion of your server-side data, contact us at: popularoo@proton.me
To clear local data, uninstall the app or clear app data in your device settings.
5.3 Opt-Out
You can stop using the app at any time and uninstall it.
6. In-App Purchases
Booster purchases are processed through:
We do not store your payment information (credit card, bank details).
7. Third-Party Services
- Wikipedia API: To search for public figures not yet in our database. No personal data is sent.
- Google Trends: To identify trending personalities. No personal data is shared.
- Brevo: For sending transactional emails (confirmation, reminders). Only your email is shared if you provide one.
8. Children's Privacy
Popularoo is rated 12+ and is not intended for children under 12. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 12.
9. GDPR Compliance (EU Users)
If you are in the European Union, you have the right to:
- Access, rectify, or delete your data
- Restrict or object to data processing
- Data portability
